AMCD crews inspect for larvae to prevent them maturing into biting adults. We work hard to ensure our treatment is within the label and keeps all other aquatic life safe. We love finding fish in ponds because this means we do not have to treat with any product and the fish will protect this habitat naturally!

Larval control is AMCD's principle form of mosquito abatement (the ending, reduction, or lessening of something). The type and amount of product used is dependent upon the mosquito habitat and mosquito species identified. No Spray

We have 14 adult mosquito traps set throughout our district.  The traps are checked early morning and help AMCD focus on areas of concern.  Trapped adults are identified, counted, and recorded in our lab. We send Culex mosquitoes to be tested for West Nile Virus.

When we receive fogging requests from residents in our district we will place their address on a fogging list for that night if possible. We also will initiate fogging in the area of West Nile positive adult mosquitoes identified through our adult traps to prevent community transmission.

AMCD implements a geographical information system (GIS) using industry standard software known as ArcGIS by ESRI. The mosquito mapping software that overlies the ArcGIS platform is FieldSeeker GIS.
